How honest should your trainer be?

How honest should your trainer be?

From early childhood onwards we are told, to be honest with others and ourselves.  That’s one side of the coin. But how do we deal with the truth,

Over time as lifestyles have changed an increasing number of men and women see the necessity to be more active and going exercise.  Some of them go on their own with fitness apps and electronic devices.  Others decide they need a trainer.  If you belong to the latter then you go to classes or start to work with your personal trainer.  That is the point where a special relationship begins.  First, you will tell your trainer all personal data and share more information about yourself.  You will find out why you are there and what you want to reach in what time.  After this intensive assessment, your trainer will create a training plan and nutritional advice for you.  So you will start work (out) with your new training pal.

Your trainer looks for the appointments, calls you, and makes sure you don’t miss a session, shows up and you follow the plan as it laid out for you.  That is the ideal world. But let’s face it! After the first sessions, you feel your body more than expected.  The weather is gray and you feel like staying home with a glass of wine and chocolate.  Or you do your next training with half of the energy you should.

That’s the point when you need your trainer should be brutally honest with you!  No matter if you want to participate in a competition or simply lose weight you have to stay with it.  Now you will be reminded of your goals in a polite way but you feel caught.

How do you feel about it?  Would you like to hear that you won’t reach your target if you don’t try harder?  What will you do? Will, you quit your training because you feel offended or are you grateful that your trainer tells you the truth?

Remember and ask yourself, how honest should your trainer be?
